Stronghold Crusader 2 is the latest title in Firefly Studios Stronghold franchise of "Castle Sim" RTS games, currently under development and set for release in 2014.

^[1] It is the sequel to their 2002 title Stronghold: Crusader which is, according to Lead Designer at Firefly Studios, Simon Bradbury, "our favorite game, it’s our fans’ favorite game and it’s the game we have been waiting to put into production for several long years now."^[2] Firefly Studios are self-publishing the title with additional funding from crowd-funding platform Gambitious.^[3]

The game is the first of the Crusader series to feature a 3D graphics enginebut will retain all the elements of the original 2D game while adding new features including "new units like the cruel Slave Driver, new beefed up AI opponents, dynamic on-map events like the Locust Swarm"^[4] as well as"new visuals, a new battle interface, and engine enhancements including effects, animations, and real-time physics."^[5] The game will mainly be based around skirmish gameplay, similar to the original Stronghold Crusader title.^[6]

The first gameplay demo was given to journalists at E3 2013, where they were introduced to new features in the series. The first of these features are the game's new units, of which there are 10 including the Templar, Christian Sergeant, Healer, Dervish and more. Another features is the announcement of 8 AI enemy characters at launch, with a further 8 coming out after release.^[1] A third feature that was shown is co-op multiplayer, in which 2 players take control of a single castle to share units and resources while fighting against common enemies.^[7] There will be eight different AI characters featured in the game at launch, including the Caliph^[8] and the Shah.^[9]

Although magic and spells come into play, games are usually decided by the player who has a combination of an overwhelming number of superior units and better micromanaging of his Hero character. The Hero typically becomes extremely powerful by late game and can slay tens of normal units alone.

Warlords Battlecry III is unique in its replay ability due to the diplomacy system and the number of races in the game. Depending on which missions have been completed and what was their original race selection, players can be Enemies, Neutral, Friendly, or Allied (which makes that race playable) with each of the 16 races. Preprogrammed biases explained in the backstory mean that it is more difficult for a player to be allied with two warring races, such as Dwarves and Plaguelords, but it is possible.

SpellForce 2 Full Pc Game

Now, the series returns with SpellForce 2: Shadow Wars, and developer Phenomic has certainly learned from experience. SpellForce 2 shows strong signs of improvement while keeping the unique mix of gameplay relatively intact, and the result is a real-time strategy game that feels more like an action role-playing game. Or is that an action role-playing game that feels more like a real-time strategy game? It's hard to define SpellForce 2, but it's certainly a nice change of pace from the real-time strategy rut.
SpellForce 2 is an interesting blend of real-time strategy and role-playing gameplay.
