By altering some settings in Firefox, you can optimize it for maximum speed and performance. First of all let me say the truth that these awesome tricks are not created by me, nor do I have 100% knowledge about what all these settings really do. But I have tested these tricks in my own browser and experienced a slight increase in the overall site loading speed. And a slight increase is indeed very helpful and very appreciated.
Tricks To Increase Firefox Internet Speed
First of all type "about:config" in your address bar and press enter. A settings page would open up. This is where we are going to alter some settings to make firefox a lot more faster.
Reducing RAM used by Firefox for cache:
Find "browser.sessionhistory.max_total_viewer" in the about:config page and set it’s value to "0".
Increase page loading speed
Here we are going to enable pipelining. Piplelining will let Firefox make more than one requests and thus increase loading speed.
Alter the entries as follows:
Set “network.http.pipelining” to “true”
Set “network.http.proxy.pipelining” to “true”
Set “network.http.pipelining.maxrequests” to some number like 10 (This means that it will make 10 requests at once.)
Then right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to “0“.
The integer we just added will order Firefox to act after 0 seconds after receiving information from user or from the servers. In simple language, it tells Firefox to act immediately after receiving any information, thus increasing its speed.
Altering these simple settings can make Firefox a lot faster. I have tried it myself and got good results.
But the bottom line is also that it will make your internet browsing faster and in a way, it will optimize your browser but the speed limit still lies in the hands of your ISP. The bandwidth set by your ISP is the limit of optimization.
But why not take out the most of that bandwidth? If you try out these hacks, then do comment and share your experience with us. And share these tricks with your friends too!
